The Discovery Set is a great way to meet Francesca Bianchi’s perfumes. Each of them is truly unique and this is the way to find out which one is the one for you or if you perhaps want them all. The packaging is great and the set is coming with a hand written note from Francesca herself and the whole experience is very personal, intimate and makes one feel special. About the fragrances… I find each of them very special, on a completely different level comparing with anything I ever smelled. With the world as it is at the moment, few of us can travel where we want to, see the people and places we love. This beautiful discovery set has let me go on a different type of journey, with each perfume evoking something and somewhere different. I can close my eyes and be transported. Sex and the Sea and Under My Skin smell divine on my skin, voluptuous but not overly animalic. Angel’s Dust is pure and ethereal. Etruscan Water smells beautiful on my husband. Even when the perfume is not for me, it has stimulated and interested me.

This discovery set was on my mind and on my list for some time and one day I pulled the trigger. Francesca’s fragrances are often talked about on social media but unfortunately always the same ones stand out. I had to find out for myself and boy am I glad I did.
For testing I use coffee filters, they’re cheap, they dissipate the fragrance so you can easily distinguish between the notes (top, heart, base and individual) and you can write on them. It has been two weeks since I spayed all of them and some stand out (on filter) in performance. The top 5 still smelling after two weeks are Etruscan Water, Under My Skin, Lover’s Tale, Sex and the Sea and Sticky Fingers. What an amazing performance! Although there is a lingering DNA that can be picked up throughout the line each fragrance has a different olfactive story. My personal absolute favorite is Etruscan Water! I will share a full review on this master piece soon under this particular fragrance.
Now, with the pandemic and all that comes with it, many people buy on-line and many also buy blind. Based on other peoples reviews it would seem easier to do this but you might miss that one (or more) fragrance(s) that catapults you back in time to (forgotten) memories. Each and every one of these samples has been an incredible perfume experience for me. I adore most of them, and even those which are not for me, I love to hate and can’t seem to stop smelling them. The lover’s tale is an example of this. I find it too fecal on my skin, but have it sprayed on a tester strip beside me so I get wafts of it throughout the day. I’ve never had an experience like this.
My favourite is The Dark Side, beautiful amber, incense and Iris for days, but they are all so unique and interesting I think I’m going to need full bottles of them all. Roll on pay day! Thank you Francesca for your grace and talent. I can’t wait to order from you again.
