The Making of Etruscan Water
The inspiration for Etruscan Water comes from two different sources. The first one is my personal memory: being born and raised in Tuscany, we could go to the beach in the South of the region, where hundreds of years ago our forefathers, the Etruscans, used to live.
In order to access to the most stunning, well hidden small bays, and offering the most transparent water, there was a 30 minutes walk through the woods.
These woods are full of wonders! The smell of typical Mediterranean vegetation is charming and, if you are lucky (or unfortunate…) you could bump into a wild boar – or even some remains of the Etruscan civilisation.
The salty, refreshing smell of the sea soothes you from the heat of the sun that is warming up your skin.
The second source of inspiration is my personal research on masterpieces of perfumery, as I have recently been intrigued by the classical masculine citrusy cologne – not the light ones, but those with a strong character.
This is the first release of the line FREEFALL, opening to new directions in my work.

Etruscan Water by Francesca Bianchi reminds me of many of my first ‘masculine ‘ perfumes that I bought as a teenager 
and those perfumes were for me the beginning of dipping into new waters: adulthood, love, sex, romance, adventure.
I have always liked dressing up – and in this drawing that I made while wearing and sniffing Etruscan Water, I portrayed the younger me, unrobing himself as he gets ready to step into new unknown waters.
This is a beautiful Ikebana that Silvia Barucci created to represent my Etruscan Water.
I love the combination of flowers, white and green ones, the transparent vase, the flower in the water, and the beautiful background of stones, recalling the Etruscan tombs, and also somehow the salty part of the perfume.

I get a prominent violet opening, elegantly floral sweet and slightly herbal and spicy, oscillating violet candy and dried spicy plum, but also with a natural waxy texture resulting from orris I guess. The immortelle becomes more noticeable in the heart phase, with its slightly cumin-like spiciness and a warm, sunny sweetness. At this stage, the combination of immortelle and violet/orris sort of reminds me of the orris-cumin combo of Under My Skin. They’re obviously very different from each other, with UMS being much richer and more layered, while EW gives a more woody, more dry and leaner impression. But the dynamics between the dandy, elegant sweetness of orris/violet and the sweet spicy cumin or immortelle are similarly complex and mesmerising.
In the dry down, the most prominent note I got is the labdanum. Its simultaneously vegetal, dirty woody resinous, even slightly mineral and sour facets are so unique! I really appreciate that it’s paired with mossy elements instead of the usual sweet vanilla and benzoin etc. It recalls that classic chypre base, like those in the early 20th century (but without animals musks), instead of the more green mossy type popular during 60 and 70s. Etruscan Water feels like walking the fine line between feminine and masculine, classic and modern, complex and wearable, with grace and ease. I’d recommend it to those who are intrigued by the core idea of orris+cumin in Under My Skin, but find it a bit too feminine or too rich/intense for daily use.

Es elegante…si; llama la atención…mucho; es sexual…a rabiar; crea adicción…si te dijera que vas por la calle oliéndote a cada rato las manos porque es un placer y la gente interrumpe varias veces el diálogo contigo para decirte que hueles increíble ¿se considera adictiva? jajaja, si. Es un aroma joven, con cuerpo, espléndida para clima primavera, verano y otoño (aunque la usaría todo el año).

This is probably the sexiest masculine fragrance out there. Francesca sells this as unisex, I might see this on a woman of course, but to me, this is the classic masculine aromatic, reinterpreted with a dirty base of musk. Beautiful and long-lasting.

This is my 2nd perfume from FB. After being smitten by Dark Knight, I didn’t know what to expect from EW. I have to say that I’ve been impressed! Again! The juice is potent and, on my skin, lasts about 10hrs. After I applied just one spray, I got this feeling of sunny weather. The scent reminded me of sunbathing during the afternoon hours on a Fall day. The ocean water is still warm, whereas the sand is getting cooler, the sun is setting. That breeze that comes from the sand towards the water brings a dry, sweet scent from the brand new towel that is placed under my head. Interesting that the name of the scent is Etruscan Water, and yet I perceived it as a thick, dry towel. Whereas DK is unapologetic masculine with animalic leather notes, the EW is more unisex with a sweet, dry, feel good appearance. Another fantastic scent from FB!

“ETRUSCAN WATER”
I pay special attention to artisanal fragrances as they generally guarantee a more careful handling of materials with more quality (raw) and less synthetic chemical Aromachemicals bombs. As a result, I bought Etruscan Water by Francesca Bianchi’s.
It is a classic, elegant, masculine, sophisticated and seductive Chypre with a “vintage vibe” – with oak moss protagonism. It has a dense, striking and opulent structure (reflecting the quality of the materials). Etruscan Water is “wearable” and complex and at the same time soft but maintaining a sexual / sensual aspect that is the fingerprint of Francesca.
It was inspired by the Tuscan region and by a place called: Buca delle Fate / fairy beach.
Therefore, we can imagine ourselves walking along tangerine and orange groves and after passing through golden wheat fields that Van Gogh could have painted we entered a forest covered by green moss and between its branches we glimpse the blue of the sea. A narrow path, flanked by a crystalline stream. The warm aroma of pine needles confirms that we are in a Mediterranean forest. The fine sand soil announces that we are at the proximity of a beach with the dunes dotted by Immortelles.
And from the dance of the immortelle with Iris root, a jasmine emerges, marking an erotic, majestic rhythm and pulsing deeply under the sweetness of Musk and Ambergris. All sheltered under the shade of a century-old oak covered with old moss, creamy and deep as the earth.
We are far from the madness of nowadays civilization and close to a serenity that we thought was lost along time ago.
An addictive scent cocoon that works like a time machine that brings us back to the past inside an happy Summer by the sea.
“I woke up” suddenly in the supermarket with a young woman exclaiming and looking in my direction (despite the masks and distances): “This gentleman smells really good!”. I haven’t heard such a “compliment” from a long time. I went out into the street with the feeling that I had actually been by the ocean because it still had the smell of sea salt on my hair and skin.”

Wonderful perfume – I wasn’t sure which one to start with (as all the online reviews are so positive!) and am glad I started here. Wonderfully fresh yet intense, perfect for summer (or anytime!). Etruscan Water is an evocative perfume that evolves beautifully over the course of the day, it also lasts all day. I am wearing it a lot during lock down it reminds me of secluded coves, warm evening walks in Florence and joyful days past. It smells classic, feels classic and I love it. As an extrait de parfum it goes on strong then sits nice and close, it feels like an aura.
It is one of three of Francesca Bianchi’s perfume’s I’ve treated myself to and they’re all wonderful, superb quality and in extrait concentration superb value. I recommend buying from the website too, kind and thoughtful customer care, generous samples and very quick delivery.

I have been asked to leave a review by email from Francesca Bianci.
Although I set up an account, and did have a sample of estruscan water, I backed out of purchase when I realised they wanted 7 euros to ship a 1.5ml sample to me, making a total of 14 euros.
Now some may find this reasonable, but I didn’t, so I have still not tried it.
I can’t find it in any local perfume shops, so I guess I’ll have to do without.
Everyone says it’s great, and maybe it is. But at these carriage charges, I’ll never find out.
So there you go, that’s my review, I hope you listen to my opinion, and maybe I will return when you have reasonable carriage charges!

Love the jasmine and immortelle combination with citruses, it feels fresh and classy, but sexy.
With the constant bombardment of new fragrances, houses, etc.. sometimes is difficult to find innovative perfumes, but FB never disappoints.

Getting the discovery set was on my mind and on my list for some time and one day I pulled the trigger. Francesca’s fragrances are often talked about on social media but unfortunately always the same ones stand out. I had to find out for myself and boy am I glad I did.
For testing I use coffee filters, they’re cheap, they dissipate the fragrance so you can easily distinguish between the notes (top, heart, base and individual) and you can write on them. It has been two weeks since I spayed all of them and some stand out (on filter) in performance. The top 5 still smelling after two weeks are Etruscan Water, Under My Skin, Lover’s Tale, Sex and the Sea and Sticky Fingers. What an amazing performance! Although there is a lingering DNA that can be picked up throughout the line, each fragrance has a different olfactive story. My personal absolute favorite is Etruscan Water!
The fresh splash of citrus is for me marked by the grapefruit and tangerine then the aromatics and flowers kick in for me marked by basil, petit-grain, caraway and the immortelle underlined with the buttery orris and the saltiness of the Amber Gris. All supported by an old foundation that stood the time and still carries the structure it was meant to carry centuries ago of Vetiver, Labdanum and Oak-moss; super long-lasting!. And while it seems that these notes are added one after the other like in a salad and you’re waiting or looking for something to add you realise that while you taste and the ingredients mix on your palate that all is suddenly there and that its perfect.
Imagine looking straight into the sun and that you’re blinded, you can’t see anything but you smell this wonderful smell. Then you look around and slowly your eyes start to pick up details of the surroundings. You see that the sun has dried the vegetation, the crickets are noisy, the trees stand throwing their shade on the forest floor sprinkled with pine needles, the heat of the sun is reflected of the old stone walls grasping the scent of fresh basil on the way and this all laced with the saltiness of the sea that you know is very close but out of sight; you’re on the Italian coast!
It’s a timeless scent and this is one of the requirements for masterpieces in my eyes.
I placed this fragrance next to my Scandal Parfum Cologne (Roja Dove), Acqua di Sale (Profumum Roma) and Apres Cologne (Angelos Creations Olfactives) to name but a few and all staples. You like old school? Vintage? Modern? Long-lasting? Compliment getter? Great sillage? Just try Etruscan Water, you won’t be disappointed, I assure you!

Etruscan Water. I have tried 6 samples to this day, and this is the one i keep coming back to.
It has several dimension to it. It is bright but y’et Dark , it have some lightness but also some weight to it, its polite and Nice but also a beast. Everything is in there, but in the right amount, everything is in a good balance, nothing g’ets to much. I like it very much and i purchased it some days ago and today i Got my new bottle Etruscan Water. I highly recommend it, if you like Chypre you will love this one, i Think it could be a blind buy worthy. But if you do not have some experience with Chypre, i Think you should try before you buy. I think it lean more to the masculine side and projection is medium/good, on your skin it last very very long (12+) our and on clothing it last for several days. It can be used all year around and in almost any occasion, dressed up or dressed Down, it can even be a signature scent,this is very versatile. Very great stuff.

Etruscan culture: we do not know a lot about it. Smelling Etruscan water is for me diving into two elements: water and earth. I am more a fire and air person, so this fragrance is completing and grounding me.
A vivid imagination of an ancient bath house: a place to purify your body, but also your soul. Years ago I saw a movie in which I ve encountered for the first time the filled with secrets Etruscan culture.
The citrusy bitter start of EW: herbs and dried flowers used in such a place to give the visitors a relaxed feeling and make the “human” fragrances disappear. Although they re still there. A beam of sunshine peaking inside. I am looking forward to test this one in the warmer season.
I like also the “universal” quality of EW very much: you can wear it to a formal meeting, but also in a wood cabin during your vacation. Certainly unisex, maybe a bit more masculin, because there is no sweetness in here. Again a very special fragrance. FB fragrances remind me of some Mona di Orio’s fragrances. MdiO and FB : not afraid to explore borders of fragrance art. Two very talented and passionated parfumista’s. Making their creations with heart. Both born in Mediterranean countries. Grazie!

He esperado un tiempo prudencial para hacer una reseña reposada y cabal de este perfume.
Decidí comprarlo a ciegas dejándome llevar por mi instinto y ahora puedo decir que acerté.
Quería un perfume distinguido y distintivo. Conseguí las dos cosas. Etruscan Water no se parece a nada de lo que se produce hoy en día en el mercado de los perfumes. No es un aroma fácil, pero cuando le das un par de oportunidades te atrapa.
Se notan los ingredientes de gran calidad, los cítricos de verdad. Un musgo de roble redondea al almizcle y al ámbar gris y lo convierte en un potente aroma lleno de contrastes y contradicciones: dulce y salado, potente y sutil, oriental y cítrico.
Su duración es excelente, lo esperable en estos casos y siento que me acompaña toda la jornada. Y si lo necesito lo reaplico sin que genere ningún problema.
Tiene un punto vintage que me reconforta y a la vez es atemporal. Una obra de arte hecha perfume. Y no una composición al servicio de un mercado.

This perfume is a piece of art, so realistics and dry (minéral) and refreshing and also complex. You realy can visualise a walk trought the pin forest and the orange grove going at the beach , crossing the stone of an etruscan tomb . It’s a wonderfull interpretation of the Clasical Chypre but even if it was a Chypre from the 5th century beafore JC witch make it timeless. What’s more, this perfume last a so long time for a Fresh, citrucy one, leaving you with a troubling Musk and Ambrox at the outcrop of the Skin.

Etrustcan water is a very interesting scent. At first, the opening and first 2 hours was very overwealming. It smelled like an artisanal soap shop… which, as a male, is a little too sweet. But this smell has grown on me after 2-3 experiences. I think this is a good daytime scent because the sweetness balances out with the “freshness” as it blooms on the skin.
The complexity of the scent has me coming back again and again. If I try to visualise the smell, it’s like walking through a salt water cave holding a bouquet of iris and rose.

Classic chypre: bright but sobre and elegant to a fault. You can smell the copper in the Bronze Age spear tips and the Mediterranean pine forests and aromatic herbs. Salty sea spray rusting away a copper helm.
