My creativity has always been driven by the idea of an “Emotion Generator Machine” crafting fragrances specifically designed to spark emotions.
For this creation, I started with the familiar fougère structure but pushed its boundaries by introducing a surprising tropical twist, led by juicy mango.
The scent balances comforting familiarity with playful brightness, creating a sense of surprise and joy.

Even before I launched my first perfumes, I was obsessed with the idea of an “Emotion Generator Machine”. This is what drives me during my creation process: building fragrances with that specific purpose of igniting an emotion.
Like a mechanic fine-tuning a powerful engine, I carefully place each note in order to trigger specific emotions — i.e. the intensity of passion of lovers, a memory of the smell of skin, a sense of nostalgia for an imaginary place, etc.

For this particular creation, my focus was to dig deeper into the very mechanism of the emotional response to my medium of expression, the art of perfumery. How can I make it work? Are there methods that can be replicated? And can they spark the same emotion in different people?
I experimented in different directions, focusing on a method that I used many times already, but this once with more focus and intention. The goal was to decode an emotion, to deconstruct the input that ignites it, in other words to write a ‘Code of Emotion’.

In this experiment, I started with the classic fougère structure – a green, aromatic, woody accord, which is familiar and recognizable. Besides, this is an accord that I only recently started to emotionally connect with. But I wanted to push it further, challenging its traditional boundaries by introducing an unexpected twist: a vibrant accord of tropical fruits, with juicy, mouthwatering mango at its heart.

This exotic note disrupts the predictable accord of the fougère, rewiring it into something both familiar and surprising. The result is a scent that feels recognizable but also refreshingly different, requiring a moment to detect the familiar fougère footprint beneath the luscious and original facet of fruitiness.
To me, this fragrance sparks a joyful sense of surprise—a contrast between the grounding comfort of the fougère and the playful brightness of the tropical fruits. It feels pampering yet invigorating, deep but never heavy, mouthwatering without slipping into gourmand territory.

Additionally, I set a secondary challenge for myself: to avoid using iris or iris-like accords altogether and to keep animalic notes to a bare minimum, limited to only a couple of clean musks.

Great summer scent with uplifting citrus/pepper in the opening.
Over time Lavender develops and it gets smoother with the mango.
Great for both men and women.

Just like the description says, this is a beautiful, sweet summer scent! Tropical and fruity without being sickly sweet. And the base notes are absolutely divine. If you’re deciding between this and Mariner’s Rhyme, I would go for Code of Emotions if you favor fruitier scents.

Opens fresh and bright, then melts into a creamy, sensual base. Seductive lavender meets juicy tropical fruits – smooth, elegant, and never overpowering. A gorgeous summer scent for anyone who loves something a little different.

    reidursol

The opening is honeyed tropical fruits, beautiful and heady, but not too sweet. Then, slowly, the fougere base kicks in, fresh, aromatic, a little masculine, in a soft way. The lavender lends an almost soapy quality to the fragrance, but something about the way it’s blended, I suspect the sandalwood, and even the oakmoss, gives it a slight lived in feel.

Like you showered in the morning and then as you’re out, hours later, going about your day, you go to brush some stray hairs behind your ear, and you catch a whiff of the soap lingering on your skin. Like a clean that’s been lived in a little, if that makes sense.

Interestingly as the drydown continues the aromatic nature of the scent settles deeper, and it becomes almost like a “your skin, but better” type fragrance.

    Definitely another olfactive masterpiece.

A lovely creation – a modern fougere, nothing alike anything else of Francesca’s creations. The combination of calming lavender and juicy fruits is making this a perfect spring-summertime fragrance.

If you are looking for Francesca’s tried and true DNA, you will not find it in this fragrance. Francesca deliberately took a risk to focus on clarity, brightness, and emotional impact.

The Code of Emotion does exactly what it promises—it’s a thoughtfully put-together scent that really taps into your feelings. It’s bright, sunny, and totally unexpected in the best way, flipping a classic style into something fresh and exciting. If you’re thinking about trying it, I’d say start with a sample. This one might wear differently depending on your skin and what you usually like. But if you’re into fragrances that shake things up a bit while still feeling polished, this could totally win you over.

If you’re into fruity-woody summer scents with a polished feel, love perfumes that tell a story, or want a fresh, expressive take on a classic fougère, this one’s worth checking out.

The Code of Emotion evokes the feeling of a tropical vacation in me. To me it is calming, smooth and creamy.

Pictures this after a long day at the beach you are sitting at the poolbar, your skin slightly burned from the sun and heat and your a eating a crème brûlée with mango.
Atleast that is the emotion it generates for me. Absolutely perfect for summer or tropical escape.

This fragrance is quite different from other perfumes by Francesca. It won’t irritate or overwhelm you because it lacks animalistic notes and isn’t overly sweet. It also doesn’t contain harsh musks. But who doesn’t like the scent of ripe fruit? To me, it smells like an exotic fruit, or maybe an overripe mango that was rubbed on a sweaty sporty man and sprinkled with freshly ground red pepper. It’s persistently pleasant for about four hours.

Having already experienced two fragrances from the house—one bold and challenging, the other deeply lovable—I approached The Code of Emotion with curiosity. What immediately sets this composition apart is the absence of the house’s signature animalistic note. Instead, it ventures into a more exotic territory, offering a smooth and elegant profile that feels distinctly tropical.
This fragrance doesn’t shout; it whispers with sophistication. The exotic elements are present but never overpowering, creating a refined balance that feels both fresh and luxurious. It’s a departure from the house’s usual intensity, yet it retains a quiet confidence that makes it memorable.
If you’re looking for something that stands out without being loud—something that evokes warmth, elegance, and a touch of the tropics—The Code of Emotion is a beautiful choice.

I’m in love with this new summer creation of Francesca! It is addictive and unique. But…, and that’s why I’m giving it just four stars, it doesn’t work on my skin. :( I’ve tried it on other people skins and I like smelling it on them. The opening is fantastic. What I do is to put it on a paper strap and smell it when I’m in the mood. :) I want to specially thank the team here for offering to try this experience for free. It was worth it acquiring it!

One of my favourite designer fragrances was Kenzo Homme Night – Grapefruit, Mango, and Vetiver. As it was discontinued (and my nose has evolved in the last ten years), I was looking for a suitable replacement. I do feel like mango is such a sexy note on a masculine fragrance; there’s something just so addictive about it.

Anyway, I was really happy when I heard that Francesca was making a new fragrance – and soon I was stunned as I saw tropical fruit as the main accord. Wait, seriously? A tropical Francesca Bianchi with a fougère base? I must be dreaming!

I ordered a sample from the site; it arrived just in time for summer. Here’s my review, based on a sample – not a full bottle.
To begin with, it’s not as loud or as powerful as other FB creations – I own Etruscan Water and this is far less potent. That is not to say that it’s weak; it’s just not that nuclear as expected. It opens with very creamy tropical fruit – I detect mango, but it’s steeped in some sort of heavy cream, almost feels like mango ice cream. Below it’s all about fougère, almost chypre notes I would say. Surprisingly, the mango has a strong lasting power (even in extreme heat), but the base notes keep everything fresh, almost camphorous.

It’s a sexy masculine fragrance due to its base notes, but I believe a certain type of woman can pull it off as well as somewhere in the middle I can detect some white florals . Why the four-stars then? Well, I’m missing a bit of zinginess in the top notes; the mango here is more creamy and milky, rather than juicy and sour. A touch of citrus for me would be a winner.

Is it full bottle worthy? Absolutely. And as usual, FB strikes an excellent balance of quality, uniqueness, and price.

This is a perfect summertime fragrance; I took it on my recent vacation to Ibiza and it was a great accompaniment to the warm weather. It’s fruity, but totally unisex and has an unusual base that makes it stand out.

From the first sniff from my sample this scent captivated me. It’s comforting and uplifting at the same time. Fresh and sweet, but with a grounded base. Perfect unisex in my opinion. Highly recommended to try out!

Perfectly unisex spring/summer fragrance. It’s not a youthful or cake kind of sweet, but refined and mellow.

Is freshness possible to be sticky and dense.? This fragrance proves it does. it feels like biting deep into gooey resin only to find an explosion of tropical, fresh, sour fruits dancing on your tounge. You want to lick it. Chew it. The sweetness is there to calm you down, the sourness to wake you up. And so you are there, somewhere in the middle, dancing between fresh and sensual, sour and sweet, light and dark. The only stable thing is the movement. I truly adore this summery interpretation of abiguity and complexity of human nature. Even in the brightest sun we hold the dark side close to our hearts.

I am not a fan of fruity leads, but the Code of Emotion is ambitious. It tries to “decode” :) emotion through scent, to blend comfort with surprise. For those who like fragrances that evolve on skin — that start bright and fruity, then settle into something more grounded and woody, which I find interesting and rewarding. This works with many moods, so I think it’s nice to have it.

I am already a big big fan of Francesca’s creations and with this one I think she hit the nail on the head when it comes to fruity, summer fragrance. I’m actually shocked by how light and fruity this is when compared to her other amazing creations. I see the fruit forward top notes with the fougère mid and bottom notes. It’s honestly something I’ve never experienced before and I love it.

The Code of Emotion is like having a serene vacation in the islands of Bali while at the same time makes me feel elegant and sophisticated.❤️

It opens with a warm, slightly spiced brightness—hints of citrus and aromatic notes that immediately set a confident tone. As the fragrance develops, a heart of powdery iris and soft florals emerges, adding elegance and a touch of tenderness. Beneath this lies a textured base: smooth woods, earthy patchouli, and a subtle leather nuance, all wrapped in a gentle sweetness that recalls balsamic resins and amber.

I recommend this perfume! Kudos to Francesca!❤️

I ordered nine perfumes for testing. This one was almost immediately decided to be ordered in a full bottle. Very realistic fruits. It’s not irritating. I can even apply it before bed. It gives positivity and calms me at the same time. This is a first for me. New perfume – new emotion.
