The Mariner’s Rhyme
€7.00 – €249.00Price range: €7.00 through €249.00
Extrait de parfum
Accords: Marine Chypre
Mood: Mysterious, Dramatic and Contemplative
This fragrance captures the essence of a mariner navigating a stormy sea. It carries a metallic edge reminiscent of a razor blade, an ozonic quality evoking the cold tempest winds, and a dark, mysterious depth akin to the ocean’s abyss. Although fresher and more transparent than other scents in the collection, the unmistakable DNA of my dramatic character and the animalic iris strongly influence and shape this unique creation.

How Mariner’s Rhyme was born
For lovers of my signature, the animalic-powdery theme dear to me recurs, albeit more subtly. The animalic note in this composition is the grey amber. The fragrance also has a transparency and luminosity that sets it apart from my initial creations.
My relationship with the sea is conveyed through some references dear to me: the sacred sense of the drama in “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by S.T. Coleridge, the epic and theatrical adaptation by Iron Maiden, but especially the mysterious, evocative, contemplative, experimental, immersive instrumental song “Sailor’s Tale” from the album “Islands” by King Crimson.
It is a fresh and transparent unisex fragrance on one side and dense and structured on the other. The citrusy and ozonic opening has a lively and modern character, reinforced by the sharp edge of aldehydes. We are at sea, but there is a hint of orange blossom in the background coming from the mainland.
The salty ambergris and the metallic aldehyde associated with oakmoss evoke the taste of oyster shells, as well as the shadowy depths of the sea.
The transparency of the ozonic accord transforms into a more opaque and thick accord, thanks to iris, which adds an almost sacred and mystical character, evoked by elemi and incense.

A Beautiful fresh, clean marine scent that reminds me of a Sailor on a boat. I tried a 1.5 ml sample and I can’t wait to get a 30 ml bottle for this summer

This perfume is exquisite! I’ve never encountered anything like it before. It’s not just the scent—it’s the entire experience. It starts strong, but the real magic unfolds in the next 3-5 minutes. So many emotions in one fragrance. It’s incredibly long-lasting. I highly recommend it. I bought a sample to try, but now I’m definitely getting the 100 ml bottle.

This is a beautifully complex fragrance that captures the essence of the sea in a dark, poetic way. The opening is salty and mineralic, like ocean air meeting wet stones, but it quickly deepens into a rich blend of leather, amber, and spices. It feels like a journey, evoking both the wild freedom of the sea and the warmth of a mariner’s safe return. It’s haunting yet comforting, with a longevity that lets it unfold throughout the day. A stunning, nuanced scent for those who appreciate atmospheric storytelling in perfume.

Para mi uno de los perfumes más diferentes de Francesca. Me encanta el aroma, lo encuentro empolvado y luminoso, muy original. Me enamora la salida pero luego me vuelve a enamorar el secado. Envío perfecto.

This is a fantastic scent, ideal for those periods of the year where we vacation to far apart in the ocean, feel the breeze caressing our cheeks and playing with our hair.

El Dux de Venecia se casaba simbólicamente con la mar. El olor debería de ser algo así. Contemplativo pero festivo.

The cure for everything is always salt water: sweat, tears or the sea » or this magnificent creation that Francesca has offered us. A sublime trip in salty water, no excessively marine just the right dosage with this beautiful shining freshly, dusty sparks. Ideal in summer even in winter time in those dull days when you need to get a cheer up moment 🩷

From the first spray, Mariner’s Rhyme is intriguingly ambiguous—is this a marine fragrance or something fresher, greener? It’s hard to tell at first, but within minutes, the scent unfolds into something beautifully airy and aromatic, with a subtle salty edge that keeps it from being too crisp or predictable. The blend feels expansive yet intimate, like a breeze carrying hints of herbs and sea spray. The projection is medium but consistent, creating a pleasant, lingering aura that stays with me for a solid 7-8 hours with just 5-6 sprays. It’s not overpowering, just effortlessly present—a fragrance that feels as refreshing as it is comforting, perfect for the hotter days when you want something light yet distinctive.

This is the perfect, seductive summer scent. It’s a fresh, but sensual interpretation of a summer sea breeze. All the notes are exquisite and it’s honestly surprising just how long this lasts given that it’s a fresh scent. If you want a slightly fruitier and sweeter summer scent, go for Code of Emotions. But this is the perfect fresh fragrance if, like me, you usually favor warmer, smokier androgynous scents.

I can appreciate this in an intellectual way, even though it’s not for me. I’m more fond of the opening than the dry down. It opens with a lot of citrus, the spicier, more bitter notes hiding underneath. It’s a bit like a hippie swimming in the sea, but still dressed. The day is overcast, the sea is grey, the shore is full of seaweed. Then it deepens into something very bitter and very salty. The grapefruit is abundant and sharp – the whole thing, with strong emphasis on the pith and the oily peel. I’ve been on the hunt for a realistic marine scent, and this delivers in a very unusual way– I get salt and sunbaked rubber, like the flipflops that hippie left on the shore before he went swimming. I get a whiff of the fishing boat that just landed at the pier on the side of the beach. I get an air of the hippie taking a soapy post-swim shower in his stanky flipflops at the other side of the same beach. It’s a marine fragrance like no other, truly. The effort to create realistic sea and seaside smells is clearly apparent, without devolving into the traditional ’blue’ marine fragrance structure. And it’s best in really hot weather.

Mariner‘s Rhyme was a blind buy and it truly is a bright star, shining above a dark ocean.
It‘s dramatic, sharp, fresh and punchy. I love the the note of Incense and the warm ambery drydown. This perfume cought me from the first moment of perception. Addiction.!
(I am reffering to its scent, wearing Mariner‘s Rhyme on my skin.)
